The Shell bathtub stands out in the realm of bathroom furniture with its unique properties. It is carved from a solid block of aromatic walnut with extreme precision and a great love of detail, pushing the boundaries of what is possible with wood. Every corner and curve are positioned with exacting precision, and every radius and incline are ergonomically optimized. The drain and overflow are designed to lie flush with the bathtub's surface, seamlessly integrating into its form.
The production process of the Shell bathtub is as unique as the design itself. The bathtub is carved from a block of walnut using a precision CNC milling machine. The final form is then refined, polished, and oiled by hand multiple times, resulting in a genuine, hand-polished, and oiled walnut bathtub.
Designed and produced in Innsbruck, Austria, in 2014, the Shell bathtub has since gained international recognition. In 2015, it received the Interior Innovation Award and was featured at the exhibition during the international furniture fair imm cologne. The bathtub's dimensions are 85x188x52 cm, making it a substantial yet elegant addition to any bathroom.
The Shell bathtub is not just a bathroom fixture, but a testament to Nina Mair's design prowess and attention to detail. The bathtub's design and production process reflect the designer's commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible with materials and technology. The result is a product that is not only functional but also a work of art.
As the recipient of the Golden A' Design Award, the Shell bathtub is recognized as a trendsetting creation that advances art, design, and technology. This award is granted to products and ideas that embody extraordinary excellence and significantly impact the world with their desirable characteristics. The Shell bathtub certainly fits this description, making it a deserving winner of this prestigious award.
